Following on from last episode, Part 1 of 7 Common & Little Known Bible Verses About Health, this is part 2. In this post and podcast episode, we’ll explore the more common and lesser-known Bible verses about health, plus practical applications that can transform your approach to nutrition, exercise, and spiritual wellness.
“It is not good to eat much honey; So to seek one’s own glory is not glory.”
Even God-given foods can harm us if consumed excessively. Modern diets often lead to overconsumption of sugar, processed foods, and even “healthy” plant foods like nuts or greens in excessive amounts.
Application: Practice mindful eating. Stop when satisfied, not stuffed. Rotate foods and balance macronutrients to avoid overloading certain compounds like oxalates or lectins.
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”
God cares about our physical wellbeing just as much as our spiritual growth. Prosperity in health is not vanity—it’s a reflection of stewardship and gratitude for the body God has given us.
Application: Include health-focused prayers in your daily devotions. Track progress in both spiritual disciplines and physical wellbeing to ensure balance.

“Please test your servants for ten days, and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then let our appearance be observed before you, and the appearance of the young men who eat the portion of the king’s delicacies; and deal with your servants according to what you see.”
“So he listened to them in this matter, and tested them ten days. And at the end of ten days, their features appeared better and fatter in flesh than all the young men who ate the portion of the king’s delicacies.”
Daniel refused the king’s rich foods and wine, choosing vegetables and water instead. After ten days, he and his friends were healthier than those who ate the royal food. Even in ancient times, diet had clear consequences for vitality and energy.
Application: Make conscious choices about food that align with your body’s needs and God’s principles. Consider simpler, whole-food diets as a tool for better energy, digestion, and focus.
“The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.”
God promises restoration, guidance, and energy when we follow His ways. Health is not just physical—it’s holistic, encompassing emotional and spiritual vitality.
Application: Lean on God in seasons of fatigue or weakness. Combine spiritual practices like prayer and fasting with intentional nutrition to maximize strength and resilience.
Beyond these seven verses, there’s a unique practice that can transform your health: food discernment. This wasn’t in the podcast, but it’s an actionable step you can start today.
Food discernment is about pausing before eating to ask whether the choice truly honors God and nourishes your body. It’s about eating intentionally, not out of habit, craving, or stress. Pairing discernment with Scripture helps you align your physical choices with your faith.
Practical Steps: Before each meal, ask: Is this nourishing my body or just satisfying a craving? Pray for guidance and thank God for the provision. Keep a small journal of how certain foods affect energy, mood, and digestion. Over time, this practice enhances intuition, reduces dependence on willpower alone, and strengthens your faith-based approach to nutrition.
If you’re ready to take your health to the next level, combining science, nutrition, and Scripture, I invite you to book a 60-Minute Metabolic Breakthrough Consultation with me.
