Let’s explore Biblical Health and the wisdom of order. If you’re feeling tired more often than not, struggling with stubborn belly fat, dealing with brain fog, or just sensing that your body isn’t quite working as it should, let me gently say this:
It’s probably not your age. It’s probably not your hormones. And it’s almost certainly not because you’re lacking willpower.
More often than not, the issue is much simpler—and far more hopeful. It’s a lack of clarity.
And this is exactly where biblical health begins. Not with trying harder, not with more restriction, not with another new plan—but with understanding what is actually going on in your body.
In this first part of my free Christian health masterclass, I want to walk you through the most foundational step of the entire process: testing. Because if you miss this step, everything else becomes guesswork—and guesswork is what keeps people stuck for years.
One of the most common things I hear from women I work with is, “I feel like I’ve tried everything.” They tell me they eat well, they’ve made changes, they’re putting in effort, and yet they still feel tired, still can’t shift the weight, still feel out of balance. And I believe them. The effort is there. But effort isn’t the issue. The real issue is clarity.
You don’t need to do more. You need to do the right things.
The problem is that “healthy eating” has become such a vague concept. It means something different to everyone. In fact, over more than 20 years of working in this space, I would say around 90% of people tell me they eat “pretty healthy.” But when we actually slow down and look at what that means in practice—what’s being eaten day to day—it often isn’t supporting the body in the way they think it is.
That’s not a criticism. It’s simply a knowledge gap. And Scripture speaks directly to this. Hosea 4:6 reminds us that “my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” That principle doesn’t just apply spiritually—it applies physically as well. If we don’t understand how our body works, how can we steward it well?
Think about it like this. If something goes wrong with your car, you don’t randomly start adjusting different parts and hope for the best. You run diagnostics. You identify the problem. Then you fix it. It’s obvious when we think about it in that context. But when it comes to our health, we often do the opposite. We try a new diet we saw online, add in supplements someone recommended, cut out foods because of a headline we read, or push ourselves harder with exercise—all without really knowing what’s happening beneath the surface.
That’s not wisdom, it’s guesswork. And guesswork is exhausting and is like “throwing spaghetti at the wall”, as my business coach often says!.
So step one in this biblical health blueprint is simple, but powerful: stop guessing and start testing.
Testing allows you to identify the root causes behind what you’re experiencing. Because symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, cravings, or weight gain are not random—they are signals. Your body is communicating with you, and testing helps you understand what it’s saying.
When we test, we’re looking to uncover things like nutritional deficiencies, blood sugar imbalances, hormonal disruptions, inflammation, and metabolic dysfunction. You might discover, for example, that your vitamin D levels are low, or that your magnesium is depleted, or that your blood sugar is not as stable as you thought. These are not small details. They are foundational drivers of how you feel each day.
There is strong scientific backing for this as well. Nutrient deficiencies, for instance, are closely linked to fatigue, impaired cognitive function, and low mood. When your body lacks what it needs, it simply cannot function optimally. So instead of blaming yourself, we need to start asking better questions.
Now, I want to make this really practical, because testing doesn’t need to be complicated or overwhelming. You can begin in simple ways. One option is a nutritional blood test, which can give you a clear snapshot of your vitamin and mineral levels, blood sugar markers, thyroid function, and more. Seeing this information laid out can be incredibly eye-opening and often brings a sense of clarity that removes confusion almost instantly.
Another option, which is far more accessible and low-cost, is to track your food for a week using a nutrition app. Most people eat in fairly consistent patterns, so seven days is enough to reveal what’s really going on. This can show you whether you’re getting enough protein, whether certain nutrients are lacking, or whether you’re unknowingly over-consuming certain foods. It sounds simple, but it can be one of the most powerful things you do.
You could also complete a metabolic or lifestyle assessment, looking at your energy, sleep, stress levels, and daily habits. Even something simple is far better than doing nothing, because it moves you from guessing into understanding.
Now, you might be thinking, “Surely my doctor can do this for me.” And yes, doctors can be helpful, but it’s important to understand their role. Most are trained to diagnose disease and prescribe treatment—often in the form of medication. They are not always trained to optimise health through nutrition and lifestyle, which means the root causes can sometimes be missed or only partially addressed.
This is not about rejecting medical input—it’s about taking ownership. Your health is ultimately your responsibility, and part of biblical health is stewarding that responsibility with wisdom.
And this is where Scripture gives us another powerful principle. Proverbs 24:27 says, “prepare your work outside; get everything ready for yourself in the field, and after that build your house.” Testing is that preparation. It’s the groundwork. Without it, you’re trying to build without a plan.
When you start testing, something shifts internally. Instead of feeling confused and stuck, you begin to see clearly. Instead of wondering what’s wrong, you begin to understand what needs attention. And that brings confidence, direction, and hope.
I know this personally, because I’ve been there. For years, I was doing what I thought was everything right. I was eating what I believed was a healthy diet, exercising consistently, and following mainstream advice. And yet, I was still tired. Still holding onto weight. Still not thriving in the way I wanted to.
Looking back now, I can see it clearly. I was still guessing. Even with all my research, I didn’t have the precision that comes from testing and truly understanding what my body needed. Once I began to refine that—once I moved from guessing to clarity—everything started to change.
And that’s what I want for you.
So if you take one thing from this, let it be this: you don’t need more effort, you need more clarity. And clarity starts with testing. When you identify what’s going on, you can respond wisely. When you respond wisely, your body begins to respond in return.
And that is where real, lasting change begins.
As Proverbs 4:7 reminds us, “wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom.” Applying that wisdom to your health is one of the most powerful things you can do—not just for how you feel physically, but for how you show up in your life, your calling, and your walk with the Lord.
Start here. Start simple. Start with testing.
Everything else builds from that.
Ultimately, this isn’t just about weight or energy. It’s about stewardship.
It’s about having the strength, clarity, and vitality to live fully for the Lord—to serve, to love, to show up in your calling without feeling held back by your body. You don’t need to stay stuck.
There is a way forward. And it can be simpler than you think.
Start with clarity. Start with wisdom. And if you feel led, come and join me inside Health for Life, where we walk this out together step by step.
I’d love to support you.
