Have you ever felt like you’re trying so hard to get healthy… but nothing seems to work?
You eat better, try harder, buy the supplements. You start again every Monday, cut calories, you exercise more. You listen to podcasts, read articles, try to stay motivated… and yet your body still feels stuck and you end up back in your doctor’s office.
The stubborn belly fat remains. Your energy crashes halfway through the day. Your brain feels foggy. Your sleep feels lighter and less refreshing than it used to. You look in the mirror and quietly wonder:
“Is my body just broken now?”
I think many Christians secretly feel this way. Especially women over 40 and 50.
You start assuming:
“It’s just my age.”
“It’s menopause.”
“It’s hormones.”
“This is just what happens now.”
Friend, I want to encourage you today with something I deeply believe after more than 20 years working in metabolic health and nutrition: Your body is not be broken. You may simply need the right ‘health unlock code’.
That’s exactly what this episode of Health in Faith is about.
Last week, my washing machine suddenly stopped working.
It started flashing a strange little symbol and beeping at me. It wouldn’t start any cycle properly. It wouldn’t respond no matter what I pressed.
Naturally, I assumed something serious had gone wrong.
So there I was first thing in the morning, still in my pyjamas, crouched on the kitchen floor opening the bottom tray because I thought maybe the machine hadn’t drained properly. Water promptly poured everywhere while I scrambled around with towels trying to stop the kitchen flooding.
Then I tried everything I could think of.
I switched it off at the mains. I changed settings. I turned dials. I left it overnight. I tried restarting it multiple times.
Nothing worked.
Meanwhile, the washing pile was building up rapidly — including damp sea swimming gear, which was becoming less pleasant by the hour.
I genuinely thought I needed to call a repair man.
Then my husband calmly looked online, found the manual in about thirty seconds and discovered the issue almost immediately.
The washing machine wasn’t broken at all.
The child lock had accidentally been activated.
All it needed was pressing the start button for seven seconds.
That was it.
Seven seconds.
And instantly the whole machine came back to life.
The funny thing is I had already pressed the start button multiple times. Just not in the right way or for long enough.
And honestly, the moment the washing machine started working again, I immediately felt the Lord speak to me about health.

The truth is, many people approach health exactly the way I approached that washing machine.
We assume:
But often the issue is not effort at all.
It’s clarity.
It’s wisdom.
It’s understanding how the body actually works.
Ecclesiastes 10:10 says:
“If the axe is dull, he must use more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.”
That verse perfectly describes modern health culture.
People are exhausted from trying harder with the wrong tools.
And sadly, many Christians end up believing they simply have a broken body.
But in reality, what they often have is:
Those things are not the same as being permanently broken.
One of the saddest things I see is genuinely lovely, intelligent Christian women feeling ashamed of their health struggles.
They feel guilty for craving sugar.
Guilty for emotional eating.
Guilty for feeling tired.
Guilty for struggling with weight gain.
And because the modern health world constantly pushes extremes, people assume the answer must be more force.
So they:
But all that often does is increase stress hormones and dysregulate the body even further.
Chronically elevated cortisol is linked with:
So ironically, trying harder can sometimes make people feel worse.
This is why so many women say:
“I’m doing everything right but nothing is changing.”
Because health is not simply about effort.
It’s about whether you’re doing the right things in the right order.
One thing I feel incredibly passionate about is reminding Christians that the body is fearfully and wonderfully made.
Your body is not your enemy.
God designed the human body with extraordinary healing ability.
Your skin regenerates.
Your liver repairs.
Your metabolism adapts.
Inflammation can reduce.
Blood sugar can stabilise.
Energy can improve.
Even people with significant metabolic dysfunction can often experience remarkable improvement through relatively simple lifestyle changes. Research consistently supports this.¹
But modern life constantly interferes with those natural healing mechanisms.
Ultra-processed food. Chronic stress. Sleep disruption. Blood sugar chaos. Nutritional depletion. Toxin exposure. Sedentary living.
The body becomes overwhelmed.
That doesn’t automatically mean you have a broken body.
It often means the body has simply lost its balance.
After decades of research, clinical work and my own health journey, I eventually realised something important.
Most people do not need more complexity, they need clarity.
That is what eventually became my TANDEM WALTZ framework — a simple four-step biblical health blueprint.
Most people are guessing. They’re trying random diets, supplements and trends without understanding what is actually happening inside their body.
Testing creates clarity.
It helps identify:
You would never attempt to fix a car engine without diagnostics. Yet people spend years randomly experimenting with their health.
Many people are trying to function while nutritionally depleted. Low magnesium alone can contribute to anxiety, muscle tension, headaches, poor sleep, fatigue…
Vitamin D deficiency is widespread and linked with immune dysfunction and low mood.²
When the body lacks key nutrients, symptoms appear and no amount of willpower can permanently override biological deficiency.
This is where transformation really begins. Your metabolism affects:
When metabolism improves, things often become surprisingly easier. People suddenly notice:
Not because they are trying harder.
But because the body is finally functioning properly again.
Modern life exposes us to enormous toxic burden:
Healing is not only about adding good things in. It is also about reducing what is harming the body in the first place.
Hosea 4:6 says:
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”
Many Christians simply have never been taught:
And once people begin understanding these things, they often stop feeling trapped.
Because suddenly they realise: “Huh…Maybe I don’t actually have a broken body after all.”
One of the biggest lies in modern health culture is that if you are still struggling, then you simply need more discipline.
More restriction. More effort. More pressure. More punishing workouts. More guilt for “falling off the wagon” again.
But the root problem isn’t that you’re lazy or lacking willpower. It’s likely that your body simply hasn’t been given the right support and TRUE nourishment.
Because in my experience working with thousands of Christians over the past 20+ years, most people do not need harsher diets or more exhausting exercise routines. They need better nourishment. They need metabolic support. They need nervous system regulation. They need wisdom, clarity and the right sequence.
So many women are exhausted from fighting their bodies instead of understanding them. That is the shift I want Christians to experience.
Simple, sustainable Biblical health principles that actually work with the body God created.
